Linzi ramsden biography of abraham
I visited the Manchester Craft and design Centre to have a look at different designers and see what they had to offer, I soon as I walked in Linzi Ramsden Ceramic’s work appealed to me in a glance, straight away. She produces quirky Ceramic wall art and decorative vessels in stoneware and porcelain clay.
Studio No.3 in the Manchester Craft and Design Centre, her web address is: http://www.linziramsdenceramics.com
- Linzi Ramsden produces unique and eccentric ceramic vessels. Her work is very decorative as she uses underglaze colours, oxides and various printing techniques.
- I feel as though Linzi’s vessels have an audience range to people who would love to purchase a handmade unusual gift/product.
- As I looked at the price range of these artefacts, they come across to be very costly, Her vessels of 3(the 4th image in the slideshow) which are named the ‘Connect triptych molecular surface stoneware’ are priced at £300. As they are handmade and very uncommon and unique to every day ceramic vessels you would buy in homeware shops, I believe they are worth every penny.
- Her products are inspired by nature, architecture, fine art, colour, print and textiles, which are very decorative process’. In my eyes her productions give a correspondence that effects people’s attitude towards purchasing them in which they are bright and positive.
- Here are some images I took of the Wall art produced by Linzi Ramsden. Her wall art pieces are also produced with stoneware and porcelain clay.
- The price ranges of these “tiles” or “wall decorations” as you would call them, for the larger tiles they are priced at £150 these are called the “molecular stoneware”. The smaller tiles are priced at £15 each. My opinion is that the larger wall arts are overly priced compared to the smaller pieces which I think is very decent for the size.
- Linzi has started to produce a new collection which is named “origami” I found out that this is inspired by her routine to repetitive folding of her baby’s clothes. I find this quite interesting as it is an unusual meaning behind her work and utterly engaging.
I have researched that when Linzi Ramsden has spare time she likes to spend it outdoors exploring the rural and urban environments, holidays, exhibitions and even films and documentary’s are also her biggest and brightest interests. This inspires me in the way that these interests can give her plenty of idea’s for her work even when she is not particularly looking for an idea. This could make a relevance for my further work to explore new and adventurous idea’s when outside exploring different environments. Adventuring around unfamiliar places could create new ideas in seconds.
